Tap into your intuitive language and develop a stronger visual vocabulary in your artwork. This intensive will remove the barriers by supporting you to act without questioning or second-guessing your intent. Use this process to push your art forward in 2020!

Use water-based paints, pencils, and other traditional media to discover the gestures, marks, shapes and visual themes that make up your personal visual language. You will use techniques such as layering, excavating, simple printing, drawing and painting with your opposite hand, and more to help you discover your personal style and expression.

At the end of the process, you will return to your studio practice, ready to dig deeper into your own work and creative compositions. This workshop is for anyone who is feeling stuck in their work and process, or who wants to make a stronger personal statement. Nothing will be precious and failures will be celebrated! We are not here to ‘create’ but to explore and push against our own limits.

In addition to defining your visual language, you will also learn to work in a series and become more comfortable with listening to your intuitive voice.

Each of you will bring your own ‘creativity kit.’  You will provide a materials list for your kit on registration.

About Georgia

Georgia Gibbs is an abstract artist who began working primarily in oils with cold wax in 2013. Early on she honed her design and creative skills as a stylist for commercial photography. Next, she trained in computer skills and became an award-winning user interaction designer for interactive television applications. While creative, it still did not 'quiet' the creative itch. Today she is a painter and also a web designer and developer. She has taught graphic design and computer graphics at FIDM in San Francisco as well as art and creativity workshops throughout the Bay Area. She is currently recognized as an Artist in Residence by the city of Fairfax in Marin.
