California Tree Poppy (Matilija Poppy)
is native to California. Its delicate flowers are 6″ across, earning it the nickname fried egg flower. In 1897 Mary Elizabeth Parsons published the book, The Wildflowers of California. Here, she christens this flower the “Queen of California Flowers.”
